ChatBot – ML, NLP
Providence Technology Group began working with Artificial Intelligence in 2018, when our team at the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) began implementing a ChatBot based on IBM’s Watson Assistant. The ChatBot, named FI$Bot, leveraged FI$Cal’s “corpus” of data and Machine Learning to respond to text questions using Natural Language Understanding and Natural Language Generation. FI$Bot allowed FI$Cal users to get answers on-demand while reducing help desk tickets and putting users in control of learning how to use FI$Cal.
The Providence Team has managed Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Automatic Speech Recognition to implement Five9 Chatbots and Interactive Voice Response systems for the California Department of Insurance (CDI). These implementations provide round-the-clock, personalized support for California residents who have questions about insurance companies, coverage and more, allowing call center staff to focus on priority interactions.
Agentic Automation, Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
Building on this success, Providence enables California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) to save significant time and money by implementing UI Path’s Agentic Automation. CCHCS avoids the tedious repetitious tasks of converting legacy health records into modern electronic files that can be managed by CCHCS’ state-of-the-art Electronic Health Record System. CCHCS’ implementation leverages AI agents to create flexible, responsive workflows that can handle complex, cognitive tasks without human intervention.
Rapid Prototyping
In rapid prototyping, artificial intelligence (AI) is used in modular components to help accelerate product development. At a current State Client, Providence is helping product owners move their AI use cases to a working prototype. With Providence’s assistance, our client innovates on the prototype and then takes the solution closer to production.
Governance
Artificial Intelligence, being probabilistic in nature, can introduce a number of real-world challenges when applied to decision-making. Implementing any Artificial Intelligence system involves decision-making around the risk that AI can introduce. The Providence Team has been instrumental in developing governance around Artificial Intelligence implementations at the California Department of Insurance (CDI) and California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS). This includes development of policies, procedures, processes, SOPs, standards and guidelines that help ensure AI projects align with the California Department of Technology’s requirements and recommendations.
